Trying to finish on a optimist note - as the Snowdrop, is the most welcome of flowers in January, since it heralds the promise of Spring, another card from my 1930's silk Kensitas Cigarette Collection...
It orininally grew wild in Italy & other parts of Europe, and was introduced to this country around the 15th Centuary.
The botanical name 'Galantus' comes from the Greek 'gala' - milk and 'anthos' - a flower, so means a milk WHITE flower.
