Monday's Monochrome & Odd Shot - Tree Trunk Magic!

Yesterday, not needing anything in town but not wanting to be indoors as the sun was shining, I wondered through Christ Church Meadows, that back onto the College.
This tranquil area of ancient pasture & tree-lined paths was bequeathed to the Abbey that was previously on the site in the14th Century & is open daily to the general public unlike the Colleges grounds.
It borders on the River Isis & tributaries from the Cherwell and makes for a lovely stroll.
Following a pathway besides the latter, I was fascinated by this tree of many con-joined trunks & thought it would make an interesting Monochrome, due to the dappled light...
Then, took a random shot looking up into the leaf canopy.
It wasn't till I was home, that I discovered I'd captured two Rainbow Orbs...

Reception on the River!

Walking into town earlier, took me as usual, past Salters boat dock @ Folly Bridge - they're the family owned company, that runs passenger services & local trips, the length of the River Thames.
Seeing, boat 'Goring' being decked with balloons & ribbons meant only one thing - a wedding reception afloat... This was confirmed by goods van holding up the traffic, as it delivered case upon case of wine!
What a brilliant & fun idea.
And, it'll certainly make for different wedding photos.
I headed off to the Celebration Cake Shop to see if there was a purple & white themed cake waiting to be collected but no.

Saturday Photo Hunt - Orange!

I always associated exotic looking Passion Flowers & their fruit with Hot Houses or Tropical climes - they are native to South America - that was, 'til I moved to my present address where several neighbours have Passion vines growing prolifically in their front gardens!
And, this year they have produced an abundance of orange fruit...Unfortunately, only the imported small, dark purplish green skinned passion fruit are edible, other wise, I would be very tempted to sneakily pick a few of these orange beauties & experiment!

True Colours Thursday & Color Carnival - RAINBOW!

The first image for this week's theme, I have made especially as a colourful floral mosaic tribute to Bodie.
This sweet puss, who was the silent partner in the entertaining & loyal TCT duo Bodie* & Doyle - the Professionals, sadly passed over to the RAINBOW Bridge last Thursday - may she be purring away happily there...

My personal contribution, is this pretty feminine, hand screen-painted long silk scarf, that I treated myself to from Granville Islands Market in Vancouver, CA several years ago - I love the subtle RAINBOW effect; and the multi pastel pearls, they were a choker style string of my late Mothers that I treasure & do occasionally wear...

As usual I've sort inspiration in town.
In the West Gate Shopping Centre's open concourse, a
recent & surprising new feature in light of health scares re Swine Flu, is this open sweet display...Then, I spotted this rather large Piggy money box with his colourful houses...And, that just leaves an offering from the Celebration Cakes Shop...

To join True Colours Thursday, all you need, is to post a photo/photographs & text, or better still both, on the specified colour of the week.
If you simply want to use the idea as a 'prompt' for a post, as I do now, with many memes, that's fine.
But, if, you'd like others including me, to visit you, please leave a comment below, so we know you are 'IN'!
For this meme only, I lift my 'Comment Moderation' to help players connect with each other.
Everyone, who to my knowledge has participated recently, is named in the TCT Roll Call in my side bar.
And, I will try to up-date throughout the day.

Next weeks colour - MAUVE through to LILAC !

Two fer Tuesday - A Hint of Autumn!

It maybe only the first of September, however there's been a subtle hint of Autumn in the air for days now around Dreamingspires - a certain chill when not in the sun, cooler evenings & the leaves are already starting to change.
This was Christ Church College's Virgina Creeper last Saturday - it's turning red earlier than usual...And, there's fine orange shades along Mertain Lane...
Two Fer Tuesday is Jonna's concept, just requiring two or pairs of images.
